ICS is the proven expert in turbine control system retrofits and system upgrades for turbomachinery and driven equipment. ICS specializes in modernizing and refurbishing controls and turbine systems to increase the reliability and life of turbomachinery. ICS upgrades are designed to eliminate obsolescence, provide high reliability, eliminate problematic equipment, and improve the operation of the turbine.

ICS introduced the first PLC-based gas turbine controller, the TC2000PLUS in 1991, followed in 1993 by the PLC-based STC2000 controller for steam turbines. Since then, ICS has applied extensive engineering expertise to all areas of turbomachinery upgrading, and provides a full range of controls and turbine system upgrades custom designed to meet the needs of most gas and steam turbines.

ICS philosophy is to apply proven, commercially available hardware, together with an in-depth specialist knowledge of the turbomachinery to deliver a fully engineered packaged retrofit and supported by dedicated technical support.

ICS proven upgrades for steam turbines include control systems, high and low pressure valve actuators, Hydraulic Power Units (HPU) for upgrading to high pressure actuators, instrumentation, vibration systems, steam seal system upgrades, and extraction and efficiency optimization programs.

Compressor Controls
For compressor drive turbines, ICS provides fully integrated compressor train controls to provide seamless control and protection. Sophisticated algorithms for surge detection and capacity/throughput control can be integrated in the controller or, where required, programmed in an independent controller in the same control package.

Generator controls
For generator drive turbines, ICS provides generator controls, AVR and static excitation systems, and generator protection modules. The application of modern digital devices provides exact control while serial communication to the turbine controller provides a common database with full status and trending of all systems on a common reporting database. In addition to providing a clean control upgrade package, this provides seamless control and protection.
