Weyerhaeuser operates a General Electric Straight Condensing Steam turbine located at the Longview Paper Mill in Washington State. The turbine was installed primarily for steam pressure reduction and the customer desired updated controls and monitoring that could be integrated with an existing Distributed Control System (DCS). The new system provided automatic control to allow for more precise and efficient modes of pressure control.

ICS equipment and engineering scope of supply for the project was;

STC2000PLUS Steam turbine controller with autosynchronizer
Actuator to replace fly-ball governor
Redundant turbine speed monitoring assembly
Instrumentation upgrade to allow enhanced modes of operation
Interface to Digital AVR
Interface to DCS
