Protective Relay Systems
Multifunction relays are modern, digital, integrated protection relays offering a high degree of protection in a compact modular digital relay package.

Multifunction protective relays have gained widespread acceptance over the last 10 years as a replacement for discrete function electro-mechanical and discrete digital relays. With multiple protective functions built into a single relay, there is a considerable cost and maintenance advantage over discrete relays, while providing many more protection functions than possible with the older electro-mechanical relays.

ICS provides proven technology relays from leading manufacturers which have been selected to provide a safe protection system for the generators and associated equipment. For added security, dual multifunction relays can be applied to protect a single zone or overlapping protection zones.

In addition to a hard-wired trip, a serial link can be provided to integrate all relay information into the turbine control system.

Multifunction relays reduce installation space and wiring requirements, and provide the following advantages over electromechanical relays:
