ICS Completes Steam Turbine Upgrade Project for Large Steel
Plant in Turkey

Clifton Park, N.Y. - March 15, 2008 - In late 2004,
ICS was awarded a large contract to upgrade the turbine controls and electrical systems
for the power house at Isdemir steel plant in Iskenderun, Turkey. The five steam turbines
are all LMZ manufactured units, with three being non-extraction type and two being
double-extraction type.
ICS has just completed commissioning on the last turbine unit with the
final unit. According to Lorcan Roche, engineering
manager for ICS, the project team at ICS and Erenco (Isdemir engineering group) worked
together successfully to solve the challenges of interfacing to original vintage Russian
equipment, boiler and plant controls. The new control systems installed feature redundant
STC2000 turbine controls, redundant static excitations, and distributed redundant Wonderware
IAS plant supervisory system.
